One of the main reasons to grow your own food, is so that you know what you’re eating.
If you buy food from the grocery store, you get what you get. You’re usually buying from a large grower company that has no choice to produce food in a way that can make a profit for the company’s shareholders. This means that the grower buys from farms that grow food using commercially-produced fertilizers (think Monsanto), and commercially-produced pesticides (yes, think Monsanto again, believe it or not!).
Grow Your Own Food for Health
Our bodies try so hard to assimilate the food that we eat. They try to use our food for nourishment, which, in a nutshell, means repairing our cells to keep them healthy, since our bodies are made up of cells.
Our bodies should be able to use the food that we eat to repair any damage our cells have, as well as help us sleep at night, and provide energy to be active during the day. Good, quality, organic, clean food (such as properly homegrown or self-raised food) will provide what we need for these natural processes to happen inside our bodies.
But, when we eat foods that damage our cells, it’s not possible. We begin to get sicker and sicker, on a slow boil, until one day, we finally realize how tired, achy, stiff and in-pain we are. Aging shouldn’t mean suffering with chronic pain and ‘dis-ease.’
When you wake up with a pain in your neck or back or hips that makes you say, “Oh, I must have slept funny,” well… it wasn’t sleeping that gave you that pain. Pain is not something that automatically happens just because you’re aging.
This is where the large drug companies come in. Most drugs (prescribed by your doctor or over the counter drugs) were created using by-products of the petroleum industry. (Just look up the little-known history of the Rockefeller or Carnegie families and how they have controlled what doctors learn about medicine.) Most of these drugs work just well enough to keep you sick, or cause other illness that your body needs to then detox from to be healthy.
Yes, this should make you angry.
Grow Your Own Food to Gain Power and Independence
By the way, executives of large food companies, drug companies, and media companies regularly meet with members of your government to ensure that their product is seen in a good light, and that they get what they want from government officials. Yes, even in America.
The stakeholders of the media companies that own every media outlet that you are shown on television, radio, online sites, and most social media companies, are paid heavily to only reveal the best news about large food companies and large drug companies.
None of these large companies or their stakeholders are in business to keep you healthy, wealthy and wise. They’re in business to make money. Period.
But, you can get some of your power back. And, growing your own food is the first step to becoming independent of these food and drug companies’ motives. You have the power to leave all that behind.
Grow Your Own Food for Deliciousness
Imagine stepping into a world that is like a garden of eden. You can walk across the yard and begin to fill a basket with all the fruits and vegetables and nuts and seeds that you love to eat. It’s fresh, delicious, seasonal, homegrown goodness that will make your meals taste the best they can, and will make your body feel the best you’ve felt in years.
Growing your own food makes this possible.
You and your family could be eating food that is NOT contaminated, not manufactured in bulk, not packaged a week or a month ago. HOW COULD YOU NOT provide this for your family?

Why Else Should You Grow Your Own Food?
Besides the best flavor and freshness possible, and knowing how your food is grown and therefore what’s in it, why should you grow your own food?
• Gardening is good exercise, and fresh food gives you even more energy.
• You’ll save money on produce that is the best you can get, instead of paying top-dollar for week-old organic.
• Your friends and neighbors will be impressed with your self-sufficiency.
• You can inspire people to grow their own food, and could even create or join a neighborhood swap.
• When shit hits the fan, you’ll be ready.
• Independence from just buying what is offered, no matter how good or bad. This will give you power.
I could go on and on. After learning how to grow your own food, you and your family will be ready for what comes. When others are trying desperately to cope with the high prices and sickness from food and drugs, you’ll be in a position of strength. You’ll be independent of the need to comply with authorities that try to tell you what to do in public; independent from eating from the choices of the trough.
Continually having a garden will lead you to having a compost bin, creating your own soil mixes, and that may lead you to having chickens to eat your own eggs. Raising animals and gardening go hand in hand, each creating fertilizing material, creating chicken feed, creating human food, and creating compost material… back and forth in a symbiotic relationship of less waste and a wealthy abundance of healthful foods.
I Didn’t Mean To Start Growing My Own Food
A couple of years ago, we bought some land, and built our own house ourselves.
I originally just wanted privacy, but then the world started changing fast. We knew we could no longer rely on any entity or person to save us, but we really should be relying on ourselves.
What started out as “wanting some privacy,” suddenly made a turn, and I began to feel a sense of urgency to become strong, and brave enough to take my life by the horns with both hands.
All I wanted to do was help people, including myself. And now, with everything going on in the world, what if S actually hits TF?
Do I know enough about growing and raising my own fresh, healthy foods and storing them for the future, building, cooking, and making things I need from scratch, and taking care of and protecting myself and my family? Hmmm…
Then I had this idea…
I realized that, with the help of master-homesteaders in my area, I can learn how, and simultaneously teach you how, to have and build your own homestead, whether you have only a backyard, or have acreage.
If we team up, then no matter where you live, we can all learn how to live this lifestyle of FREEDOM and INDEPENDENCE with our own homestead activities.… just in case SHTF.
